SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support
Ortus Recruitment are looking for a caring and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Dollis Hill, Brent.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with children and wants to make a genuine difference to their learning and development.
You will primarily work with children in Early Years, providing 1:1 SEN support throughout the morning. In the afternoon, you will support children in Year 3 who require additional help with their learning and development.
The school is looking for someone who is patient, nurturing and confident in supporting children with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 support to children with SEN
- Support children in Early Years / EYFS with their learning and development
- Help children access classroom activities and the curriculum
- Support pupils with additional learning and communication needs
- Work with Year 3 pupils in the afternoon who require SEN support
- Encourage children’s confidence, independence and social skills
- Support attention, concentration and engagement in lessons
- Help children manage transitions and changes throughout the school day
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Adapt activities and instructions to suit individual needs
- Encourage positive behaviour and participation
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Follow individual support strategies and provide consistent support
You may be supporting children with needs such as Autism/ASC, ADHD, speech and language difficulties or other additional learning needs.

- Has a genuine passion for helping children develop and succeed
Experience working with Early Years, Autism, ADHD or other SEN needs would be highly desirable.
