Ortus Recruitment are looking for a caring, proactive and enthusiastic Reception Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Stockwell. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and is passionate about helping them build confidence, develop essential skills and thrive during the early stages of their education.
The successful candidate will support the Reception class teacher in creating a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment. You will help deliver activities aligned with the EYFS, encourage children’s independence and provide additional support to pupils who need guidance with their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher with daily classroom activities and the delivery of the EYFS curriculum.
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and develop early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
- Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction and emotional development.
- Assist with preparing classroom resources and maintaining a safe, stimulating learning environment.
- Observe children’s progress and communicate relevant updates to the class teacher.
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion and the welfare of every child.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience working with Reception-aged children or within an early years or primary school setting.
- A good understanding of the EYFS framework and early childhood development.
- A patient, nurturing approach and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
- A relevant childcare qualification is desirable.
- Safeguarding training and Paediatric First Aid certification are advantageous, although a willingness to undertake relevant training is welcomed.
