A well-regarded primary school in Brent is seeking a dedicated Year 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who is passionate about supporting children to reach their full potential and is confident managing challenging behaviour.
The Role
You will be supporting a Year 3 class alongside the class teacher, helping pupils to engage positively with their learning and providing additional support where needed.
The class includes a number of children who can display disruptive and challenging behaviours and have additional behavioural needs. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to be confident, consistent and proactive in their approach to behaviour management.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the class teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required
- Helping pupils remain focused and engaged with their learning
- Managing challenging and disruptive behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
- Establishing clear boundaries and maintaining consistent expectations
- Supporting pupils with additional behavioural and learning needs
- Building positive relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate authority
- Contributing to a positive, calm and inclusive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate

- An experienced Teaching Assistant, ideally with primary school experience
- Confident managing challenging behaviour
- Calm, patient and resilient under pressure
- Consistent in applying boundaries and expectations
- Able to build strong relationships with children while maintaining authority
- Proactive and able to use initiative
- Passionate about supporting children’s educational and personal development
- A strong team player who can work effectively alongside the class teacher and wider school staff
Previous experience working with children with behavioural needs or in challenging classroom environments would be highly desirable.
