A leading recruitment agency is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Brent. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential.
The Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to provide effective support to pupils with a range of additional needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to children with additional needs
- Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, ASD and other SEN
- Helping children access the mainstream curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities
- Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development
- Implementing strategies and approaches outlined in individual support plans
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
- Promoting independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning
- Supporting the wider classroom when required
The Ideal Candidate
Experience is key for this position. We are looking for candidates who have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with Autism and/or ADHD.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar
- Practical experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD or other additional needs
- A patient, calm and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and behaviour-management skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with children
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
- The confidence to work 1:1 as well as within a busy classroom environment
