Reception Classroom Assistant | Tulse Hill | £93–£110 PAYE | Full Time | Immediate Start
A welcoming primary school in Tulse Hill is seeking a caring, proactive and enthusiastic Reception Classroom Assistant to join their early years team. This role would suit someone who has previous experience supporting children in a Reception environment and understands how to encourage learning through play, exploration and positive relationships.
You will work closely with the class teacher to create a safe, engaging and supportive classroom where young children can develop academically, socially and emotionally. A good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is essential.
Candidates with a childcare-related qualification, safeguarding knowledge and a Paediatric First Aid certificate are encouraged to apply. Those without a current Paediatric First Aid qualification may be considered if they are willing to complete the required training.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
- Assist the class teacher with the organisation and delivery of daily classroom activities
- Provide focused support to individuals and small groups of children
- Help pupils develop their communication, social and early learning skills
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote independence
- Support classroom routines, transitions and learning through play
- Help maintain a stimulating, organised and safe learning environment
- Communicate effectively with teaching staff and other members of the school team
- Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain professional standards at all times
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is genuinely enthusiastic about working with young children and is committed to helping every pupil make progress.
You should have:
- Previous experience working with Reception-aged children
- Experience within a primary school or early years setting
- A good understanding of the EYFS framework and principles
- A caring, patient and encouraging approach
- Strong communication skills and a good standard of spoken and written English
- The ability to follow guidance while also taking initiative when appropriate
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and children’s welfare
- A commitment to helping children achieve their individual potential
