Are you passionate about supporting children to develop positive behaviour, confidence and strong relationships? We are currently seeking a dedicated Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school and provide support to pupils with a range of behavioural and emotional needs.
As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in helping pupils manage their behaviour, develop positive coping strategies and engage successfully in their learning.
The Role
You will work closely with teachers and the school’s pastoral team to:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to children with behavioural and emotional needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils to make appropriate choices.
- Support children in managing emotions, developing self-regulation and building confidence.
- Implement behaviour strategies and individual support plans consistently.
- Help pupils understand boundaries, expectations and consequences in a positive and supportive way.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model.
- De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- Encourage pupils to engage positively with their learning and peers.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals to support individual pupils.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

- Passionate about supporting children’s wellbeing and development.
- Confident managing challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent manner.
- Able to build positive relationships with children who may require additional support.
- A strong communicator and team player.
- Understanding of safeguarding and the importance of maintaining professional boundaries.
- Experienced working with children in a school, youth, care or support setting (desirable but not essential).
Previous experience supporting children with behavioural needs, SEMH or SEND would be highly advantageous. Training and relevant qualifications will also be considered.
