Ortus Recruitment is looking for a confident, resilient and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join a mainstream primary school in Tottenham, Haringey N17.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, building positive relationships and helping pupils overcome behavioural and emotional challenges. You will play an important role in helping children develop self-regulation, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.
What Will You Be Doing?
You will support primary-aged pupils who may need additional guidance with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in the classroom.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group behaviour support.
- Helping pupils manage their emotions and develop self-regulation skills.
- Supporting children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
- Building positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
- Using positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behaviour.
- Helping pupils develop resilience, confidence and social skills.
- Supporting children to remain engaged in lessons and classroom activities.
- Working alongside teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff.
- Promoting a safe, structured and positive learning environment.
Is This Role Right for You?
We are looking for someone who is patient, assertive when needed and confident managing challenging situations calmly and professionally.
You may be suitable if you have experience in:
- Behaviour mentoring or pastoral support.
- Teaching assistance or SEN support.
- Youth work or children’s residential care.
- Sports coaching or leading structured activities.
- Supporting children with emotional, social or behavioural needs.
Previous school experience is beneficial, but transferable experience from other child-focused environments will also be considered.
The most important qualities are resilience, consistency, strong communication skills and a genuine desire to help children succeed.
