SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs & Personal Care

Salary: £100 – £105 Daily PAYE
Hours: 8:30am – 3:45pm

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new opportunity?
We are working with a welcoming school who are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support two Year 2 children with significant additional needs.
The children are currently working academically and developmentally at approximately a nursery level and require a nurturing, patient and highly supportive approach. The role will involve supporting their learning and development alongside their personal care needs.
About the role
You will be supporting two children with complex/significant SEN, helping them to engage with learning, develop communication and social skills, and build their confidence and independence.
The role will include:
- Providing individualised support with learning and development
- Supporting children working significantly below age-related expectations
- Adapting activities to suit their developmental level
- Supporting communication, interaction and social development
- Helping with emotional regulation and behaviour
- Encouraging independence and life skills
- Providing personal care support, including nappy changing/toileting
- Working closely with the class teacher, SEN team and other professionals
- Creating a safe, calm and nurturing environment
About you
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working with children with significant or complex SEN
- Experience working with children with developmental delays or learning needs
- Confidence and willingness to provide personal care, including nappy changing
- A patient, nurturing and compassionate approach
- The ability to remain calm and consistent
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Special Needs Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, Support Worker or similar would be advantageous.
